Intelligent Service Interconnection Engine (ISIE)
Novel approach to user-initiated semantic service interconnection at runtime (developed as part of a PhD thesis). The ISIE is realized as a generic reusable architecture based on existing standards such as WSDL, OWL-S and SWRL, and therefore facilitates a dynamic creation of value-added services as well as novel functionality based on aggregated data.

Innovative approach to graphical user interaction based on AJAX (Asynchronous Javascript and XML) and universal semantic drag & drop technology.
Privacy-Preserving Technologies
Integration of Privacy-Preserving Technologies based on a multi-agent system architecture (developed as part of a PhD thesis). This approach utilizes dedicated user agents controlled by the respective user which are responsible for granting access to private user data in a privacy-preserving manner.
Features
Web 3.0 Portal
In order to meet the current requirements of Rich Internet Applications, the SPA has been realized as a self-contained Web 3.0-based portal. Its look and feel has been modelled along the lines of traditional desktop-based applications, which considerably flattens the learning curve for interacting with the system, especially for new users. The SPA has been realized as a Web-based application and may thus be accessed globally without requiring any additional software. Furthermore, the user may (inter-)actively participate in the system (Web 2.0) via submitting ratings for various content or adding personal content available for other users.
Online Communities
Online communities ranging from small networks of friends to large alumni networks may also be established as a Web 2.0-related feature. In the Smart Personal Assistant, these communities may be realized in an innovative manner as »ad-hoc real time communities«. The underlying mechanism utilizes state-of-the-art technology from the area of situation awareness.
Edition-based Platform Model
Various editions of the Smart Personal Assistant may be deployed (such as Fresh, Basic, Business, Alumni) in order to specifically target different consumer groups and thus maximize the entertainment value for the respective users.
